Best Way to Increase Traffic to Your Website

There are a number of ways to increase traffic to your website but the main ways are article marketing, SEO, PPC and email marketing.

So which one is the right for you?

Obviously that depends on your objectives and how much time you have to spend on traffic generation so let's look at each in a bit more detail.

Article marketing is when you write an article and submit it to a place like Ezinearticles.com and in return you can place links back to your website in the author resource box.

This is also a good way to increase the backlinks to your website through SEO as well - so the benefits are twofold - the direct traffic from those people reading your article and a secondary boost in rankings by having a link to your site.

If you want to further improve your SEO then instead of just placing a regular link to your website, that you create an anchored text link. That means using the keyword that you want to rank for as 'anchored' text back to your site.

If you have the cash you can also pay for traffic. PPC (Pay Per Click) services such as Google's Adwords allows you to place advertisements on the front page of Google and also the content network for various search terms that you specify. PPC can be difficult to master and isn't recommend for beginners.

Email marketing is where you get the email address of the potential customer and then you can send them to your website whenever you like (say when you write a new post or create a new ebook).

There are many other ways to increase the traffic to your website including forum marketing, adding your website link to places like Yahoo Answers, creating YouTube videos, social bookmarking and more.

Is Internet Marketing a Good Low Cost Home Based Business?

I've been involved in internet marketing now for over three years and I have to say it's a much better low cost home based business than anything else I've tried.

Not only can you work your own hours, but because everything is done online you don't have to answer phone calls, pack up and deliver packages to the post office, or visit customers asking them to buy anything. You can do it all from your own computer.

In fact all you need to get started in this business is a computer and an Internet connection and you can make money too.

So how do you get started as an internet marketer?

Your first step should be to create a website. Don't worry it doesn't have to be anything special. Heck it could even be a free blog like this one I'm using here on Blogger.com. Or you could start on HubPages or Squidoo as well (I particularly like HubPages at the moment) and it won't cost you a cent.

You next step is to write. Yes there is a lot of writing in internet marketing, but believe me it's well worth it from the benefits that you receive.

Your writing doesn't have to be anything special and it helps if you can just write as if you are talking to someone. And if you are using a blog it doesn't even have to be very long. A few hundred words is enough to get you started.

Of course it's not just a matter of writing anything down, not everything can be monetized. I mean if all you did was write about how cute your cat is, you probably won't get a lot of paying customers to your site.

Instead you need to think about things that might be able to earn you an income. That way you can place ads on your site like the one you see to your right (Adsense) or promote products where you earn a commission (like the eBooks that you see in the columns to the right).

It also helps if you write about something you know. Are you good at craft? Perhaps you are knowledgeable about how to get a baby to sleep? If you write about them and place advertising on your site (you'll need to apply for Google Adsense first before you can place them on your blog) you will earn money every time someone clicks on one of your ads.

Some niches pay more than others so as you get more experienced you can start to write about topics that will earn you more money, but when you are just starting out, just knowing that you can earn money by writing about things you already know about will get you excited about the possibilities. If you can earn $1 online, then you can potentially earn thousands.

It's that reason why I think internet marketing is the best low cost home based business I've ever been involved in and I wouldn't have it any other way.

How to Add a Video to Your eBay Auctions

Adding Video’s to your eBay Auctions and Classified Ad’s can really boost your conversion rates. It not only grabs the attention of your customer, it can convince them to place a bid or click through from your ad earning you more money.

So what is the best way to add a video to your eBay listing?

The best way is to get a YouTube account, if you haven’t already, and make your own video.

Yes I’m going to show you how to make a very quick video (under 30 seconds) that you can help boost your eBay listings with.

Grab about 10-20 or so images that are related to your topic. If you are promoting a weight loss product – choose images that show slim models. You can also create your own text only images to help ‘sell’ your story.

Sometimes it doesn’t even have to be related to your subject at all and people still will buy more from you. (I can’t explain it either, but they do so take advantage of it).

Now go to animoto and sign up for a free account. You can make as many 30 second videos as you like here for free, but you’ll need to pay if you want to make longer videos.

Here’s a quick example video I made so you can see what one looks like. I only did it very quickly, so no complaining on it's quality (Laughing).

Now it’s time to put it into your eBay listing.

Once your video has been uploaded to YouTube (you can set animoto to do this automatically) grab the ‘embed’ code from the video page and copy and paste it into the HTML of your eBay listing.

You can view the HTML of your eBay ad in both the Sell Your Item page and also with Turbo Lister.

And that’s it. Now you have a sweet little video in your eBay auction listing to help boost your conversion rates!

Make Money: Internet Traffic With Backlinks

In my last post I talked about the importance of how to make money on the internet by setting up your on page SEO using your keywords in your titles and throughout your content. This helps Google know what your page is about and if you are monitizing with Adsense the Google Bot knows which ads to display that are relevant to your content.

In this post we talk about off page SEO - Backlinks.

Since you will be competing with thousands of other webpages and blogs (or sometimes even millions) Google needs some way of determining which pages are more important that others. There are a number of ways that Google does this - and even though it's actual algorythym is a big secret - we do know that Google considers backlinks a good 'vote' towards the relevancy of the page.

Links to your webpage will help improve it's pagerank and also the amount of traffic that you are likely to get to your webpages.

There are many types of links that you can get to your pages but by far the most important is anchored backlinks.

What is an anchored backlink?

An anchored backlink is a link that contains your keywords in the link text back to your site, so:

Make Money on the Internet is an anchored link.

The anchored link is going to provide a lot more search engine juice to your website and push you higher in the serps for your key phrase that you are targetting.

The basic rule is whoever has the most keyword anchored links wins the #1 spot in Google. Yes there are other factors that come into play such as on page SEO, domain age, pagerank of the sites linking to you, relevancy of the sites linking to you. But it's very possible for a site with only 1 pr6 link pointing to it to be outranked by a site with 100 pr0 links pointing to it.

Great - now right now you are thinking of going and spamming the internet with your keyword phrases right? Well not quite. Google is smart and is likely to know you are spamming your keyword all over the place. Called Link Bombing it was actually made famous when a few years back a bunch of SEO marketers linked the phrase 'miserable failure' to then president Bush's website. His site was #1 for the term miserable failure and he didn't even have that phrase in his website anywhere (obviously).

So it pays to mix up your keyphrases a bit. So instead of 'make money on the internet' every single time, use different phrases that still use your main keywords such as 'how to make money on the internet', 'make money internet' and so on.

It doesn't have to be different every time, you can still mix it up, say 60% your exact keyphrase and the rest of the time variations so it looks more natural.

So how many incoming links do you need to make to get to the #1 position in Google?

How to Make Money on the Internet – Getting Search Engine Traffic

In the last few posts, I’ve been showing you how to make money on the internet. In my last post title Make Money on the Internet – I showed you how you can use adsense in your blogs and websites to make money, in this post I’ll further than information and show you how to make money online by getting traffic to your website or blog.

To make money using Adsense and to avoid being smart priced (where you end up with low priced clicks) you need to ensure that the traffic you receive is primarily search engine traffic.

The reason for this is that search engine traffic converts. Social traffic does not. Social traffic just likes to read websites and blogs for information – search traffic on the other hand are looking for solutions and are likely to pay money for it – therefore they click ads.

So how do you get more search engine traffic so you can boost your adsense income and make more money online?

Obviously the key is being ranked highly in the serps for different keywords and key phrases. And the easiest way to do that is to use SEO (search engine optimization). Both on page and off page search engine optimization techniques are needed if you want to rank highly in the serps.

Let’s first look at one page optimization since that’s the easiest to implement. If you are using a blog then you need to make sure that your main keyword is in both your title and your content. Don’t overly stuff your content with the phrase though.

I usually only put it once in the post title and then once in the first paragraph of my blog post. Occasionally I’ll also put in somewhere else in the content, but other times I won’t. The key phrase I’m targeted with this blog post is probably fairly obvious – it’s ‘How to Make Money on the Internet’.

Long phrases (often called long tail key phrases) are much easier to rank for that one or two word phrases as they (usually) have less competition.

Your goal is to find phrases that have a lot of searches but low competition. The phrase I’ve chosen – how to make money on the internet – does have a bit of competition but it also has a lot of searches each month too – so even I don’t get on the first page I’m still likely to get a bit of traffic.

Plus I’m also likely to get search results for related topics that are not exactly the phrase I was targeting, but similar that I wouldn’t have even thought of.

And of course the most important reason is so the Google Bot knows what my page is about and can serve up relevant ads. Ads that my target audience would be interested in.
It also helps if you can bold or highlight one of the terms too – as that seems to show the google bot which words are more important than others – but again don’t over do it – you don’t want your phrase too many times on the page or it might look spammy and you’ll never make any money on the internet doing that!

Make Money on the Internet – Part II – Making Money with Adsense

Following on from my previous post title Make Money on the Internet Online, I talked about the importance of having a plan of making money online.

You really need to know how you are going to achieve your goals, whether it is through affiliate marketing, selling your own products, adsense or selling advertising space on your website.

In this post I’ll primarily be talking about how to make money on the internet using Adsense.

Google’s Adsense program is a program that serves up text or image advertisements on your website or blog based on the content on your page. If you write about dog food, that’s the types of ads that will appear, if you talk about making money online you’ll see ads similar to the ones on this blog.

Adsense is a very passive way to earn some money because you don’t have to pre-sell your customer like you would have to with affiliate products, you just have to provide good content and get ranked for it in the search engines.

Of course, there are a few key factors that you need to take into consideration:

1. Not every topic is going to work with Adsense
2. Not every topic has high paying Adsense ads
3. You must get search engine traffic to avoid being smart priced

Let’s look at each one in more detail.

1. Choosing a topic that will work with Adsense

Not everything that you will write about will have advertising to go along with it. If you are a fiction writer or your website or blog is about a topic that isn’t profitable then it’s unlikely that you’ll get enough ads that are relevant to your topic. If there are not any ads then your site will show either untargeted advertisements or public service ads – neither which are going to make you much money.

So how do you find a topic that has a lot of targeted Adsense ads?

Simple. Do a search in Google using general keywords for your topic. If you see a lot of Adwords ads on the right hand side (and at the top sometimes), that are targeted to your keywords then you have chosen a winner.

So to summarise: Run your chosen keywords/content through a quick search on Google. If people are running Adwords ads then it’s likely that you could make some money using Adsense.

Ok, that brings us to:

2. Finding topics with high paying Adsense ads.

Just because there are ads running, does not mean that you are going to make your fortune with Adsense. It could be that all your advertisers are only paying around 0.10 cents per click – which as an Adsense publisher means you are likely to only earn around 25% of that – 2 to 3 cents!! You would need a lot of clicks for that to be profitable.

So your next step is to put your keywords into Google’s Adwords Keyword Tool. In the drop down box that says show/hide columns, select it to show the average CPC.

I usually like to sort by highest to lowest CPC too (you can do this by pressing the tiny arrow at the top of the column). Look at the highest paying keywords – if they have decent traffic as well (minimum 2,000 searches per month) then those are the keywords and phrases that you want to write about and try and target.

Remember though, you won’t get the CPC displayed – those are what Adwords advertisers are paying for search placement, they usually pay much less for the content network and Google takes a cut too – so expect around ¼ of this price.

You obviously still need to take into account competition as well since you will need search engine traffic for Adsense to work best, so even if you find a high CPC.

Make Money on the Internet Online - Yes You Can!

I'm kind of tired of all the people that tell me that you can't make money on the internet online, because only those people that are not making any money will tell you that.

I know that it's possible because I do it every day. And because I'm feeling quite generous today, I thought I'd share with you some of the easy money making ideas that I use so that you too can start living the dream.

Whether you want to make a little bit of money online or a lot of money online then you obviously need to start with the basics:

A computer (duh!)
An internet connection - which I'm assuming that you have since you are currently reading this online.
A plan.

And it's the third option - having a plan for making money online - where some people struggle. You see there isn't just one method for making money online or to earn money online, there are thousands of different ways.

You could fill in online surveys for money, become and affiliate marketer, sell stuff on eBay, write mini ebooks and sell those, write in a blog and earn advertising revenue, in fact there are so many different ways of making money at home from your computer that you probably don't know where to start!

So the first thing I want you to do is thing about what it is that you think you can manage first.

I usually recommend people start out with a blog (a free one just like this from blogger is perfectly fine) and also think about something that they want to write about. Obviously this is an important factor because not everything can be monetized.

Make a list of 5 to 10 things that you think you could write about.

Once you have your list, go to Google Adwords Keyword Tool and put your 5 or so keywords into the box, each on a seperate line and press 'get keyword ideas'.

This will give you a good indication if lots of people are searching for the keywords that you are thinking of writing about.

To begin with, try and look for approx avg search volume of about 2,000 to 20,000. That will probably mean that you don't have too much competition, but still enough that you will get some traffic.

Next you need to decide how you are going to monetize your blog. Are you going to promote affiliate programs such as ebooks from Clickbank, or real products from Amazon? Or would you like to put Google's Adsense ads on your blog and earn money if anyone clicks through to the advertiser?

Both options are fine, but choose only one option otherwise you could confuse your visitors and they won't buy or click anything!

If you have chosen to add Adsense to your blog then you need to get an account with Google, but you also need to have a website up first before they'll approve you! But I'm getting ahead of myself, before you even apply to adsense you still need to figure out if your keywords are going to make you any money or not.

While you are still in Google's Keyword Tool, in the drop down box where it says show/hide columns, show the column that is called estimated average CPC. This is the price that Adwords advertisers are paying for that particular keyword (but hang one because you won't actually get that much money - you usually will get around 1/4 of the est av CPC).

Look for keywords that are paying around $2.00 or more - which means you'll make around 0.50 cents per click (hopefully).

Choose your best paying keywords that pay $2.00 or more, and have searches of between 2,000 and 20,000 per month.

That is what you are going to use to start your first blog.

Now you need to go to blogger and open up a free blog account. When it comes to choosing the name of your blog try and get your keywords into the title. If your chosen keyword is already taken, try it with dashes in-between-your-keywords to see if that's available. If not add a word or two at the end like blog or review (whatever fits best).

Now it's time to start posting. Write 2 or 3 blog posts and try and scatter your money making keywords a few times in the post while still trying to make it sound natural. Don't overly stuff it though - you dont want to be labeled as a spam blog.

Don't think about making money from your blog just yet though, you want to just get some good content on there before you apply to adsense.

Installing Auction Acrobat on your 1&1 server

The instructions that came with Auction Acrobat were for setting it up on Hostgator.

I use 1&1 as my server, so if you need help setting up your database on 1&1, then here are the step by step instructions.

Step 1:
Create a database. This is as simple as clicking on MySQL Administration and then Create a New Database.

Step 2:
Make sure you choose SQL 5.0 otherwise you'll get errors. Name it whatever you like.

Step 3.
Once the database is ready (might take a few minutes) click on the PHPMyAdmin button to enter the SQL area.

Step 4.
1. Click on the database name on the left, then 2. the SQL button (2nd button) in the main screen. Finally 3. find the dump.sql file on your computer and upload it to the database.

And your database is created!

Next fill in the passwords.php file with your relevant info. You'll find the host name, user name, password & database name on the main control panel area of the My SQL page on 1&1.

Upload all the files from the Auction Acrobat script folder somewhere on your website. (It doesn't matter where it is, just somewhere you can access it online - I put mine in a folder on one of my websites).

Then when they are all uploaded go to the folder where you put the files and you should see the Auction Acrobat Admin sreen. Login using the password provided to you (see your Installation Manual) and then change the password to anything you like.

Follow the rest of the instructions from the Installation Manual and you are done!

Now get searching for some ebooks to sell!

Auction Acrobat Review

Before the eBay ban, I had a nice little business running on eBay selling ebooks by digital download.

I loved it. It was fully automated and money would appear in my paypal account as people purchased the ebooks. They could be delivered to my customers without me sitting at the computer and I had lots of free time to get on with other things.

After the ban that all changed for me. Many other sellers were going the cd-rom/dvd route, but I was reluctant because I didn't like the idea of burning discs, packaging and shipping out cd's. Plus because I'm in Australia I thought that the shipping time from here to overseas would be too much.

Until now ..

This week a new software program called Auction Acrobat has been launched that will make the whole process automated again. How it works is by tying together eBay, PayPal & Kunaki.com.

You set your auction up on eBay, add some code to PayPal, set the script up on your site and it will send your cd/dvd orders to Kunaki who will then ship them out. 100% Fully Automated.

eBay Classifieds are great for Bum Marketers!

Over the last few weeks I have been experimenting with different ways to make money with Classified Ads on eBay and have found that the most successful methods are either lead generation (getting people to join your mailing list) or affiliate marketing.

What this means for Bum Marketers is that they can write their articles directly in eBay's classified ad format and add their affiliate links on the page pointing the customers directly to the product.

This is a huge advantage over article directories for a number of reasons.

* One is that eBay customers are already READY to buy - that's why they are there, to look for stuff to purchase. You already have found your hungry crowd.

* There is low competition. Many sellers are put off by the $9.95 per month cost for placing a classified ad. But if you think that you really only need ONE purchase to break even in most cases (depending on the product price of course) then over the course of 30 days you are bound to get at least that many sales (and probably a lot more if you choose a product that is in demand).

Adding your eBay listings to Facebook

I have just discovered that eBay has a number of applications that can be added to your facebook profile.

To find these apps - log in to your facebook page and search for ebay in the 'browse more applications page'.

There are two 'official' eBay apps, and quite a few written by other developers. The two by eBay are:

eBay Marketplace
Which lets you see what your friends are buying, selling, and watching on eBay, and

eBay To Go
Which allows you to showcase your favorite eBay discoveries directly on your Facebook profile.

Classified Ads are a great lead generation tool

I've started placing a few classified ads on eBay to see how they perform. At the moment I have only two - one for lead generation, and one promoting a clickbank product.

The lead generation one is doing really well. In the past 3 days since appearing I have already got around 6 new sign-ups to my list. Not a bad effort for a classified ad!

The clickbank product has had a few clicks (but no sales yet), however it still is early days having only been live for 2 days.

Next I'll experiment with adding a few ebooks to see if the classified ad format is good for selling them.

Classified Ads for eBooks?!

Yep it's true. In their infinite wisdom eBay has changed it's policy on ebooks and will now only allow them to be sold as classified ads.

Obviously this is a huge impact on anyone selling ebooks.

For the time being, wait until the dust settles and hang tight. I'll keep you updated on how you can still make money selling ebooks on ebay (or whereever else we decide to go).

Seasonal eBooks do very well at certain times of the year and chocolate recipes or other Easter related eBooks do very well in the week or so before Easter.

So go and do a search on eBay or online for some chocolate recipe eBooks to stock your eBay store with.

$300 in 30 Days Auction Challenge

UPDATE: Great timing huh! It looks like my product is obsolete before it even goes on sale!

For those that are interested, I will be launching my first ebook in just over a week on Clickbank.

It will be a beginners step by step guide to selling ebooks on eBay so that you can earn a quick $300 while you are learning in your first month.

After the first month is up, you can of course go on to earn much more, but I think it's important to build a good foundation and learn the ropes before you start moving on to more advanced techniques.

eBay Boycott

Last week many sellers decided to boycott eBay to protest about the increase in fees. As you know I'm actually very happy about the fees because as an eBay seller it has actually reduced my costs by nearly half.

However one thing that I am worried about is the change to feedback that will happen in around two months time. For sellers this is scary territory, because it only takes one disgruntled buyer (or competitor trying to sabotage your business) to give you negative feedback and you can't do anything about it.

Sellers will no longer be able to leave neg feedback for their buyers. It also means that if you feedback percentage falls below a certain level your auctions won't even be shown on the front pages, you'll be pushed to the back of the queue.

New eBay.com Fees for Sellers

Well the first of the new changes that eBay is implementing has taken effect - the new fees.

A lot of people are upset over the changes but as an ebook seller I'm thrilled! My fee's have actually HALVED. That's because as an ebook seller I'm selling items that have such a tiny price (just a few dollars).

The changes meant that the costs to add an item are cheaper (and gallery is now free too), but the closing final fee is higher. However since we are only selling items that avg for about $1.99, the final value fee difference of 5.25% to 8.75% is only 0.07 cents extra, however the savings upfront for listing the item (save 0.05 cents on listing fees and now gallery fees are free) means we save 0.40 cents per listing.

As an ebook seller that's an extra 0.33 cents in your pocket for every ebook sold. While that doesn't sound like much - if you are selling hundreds of ebooks like I am, that add's up to more profit for me!

I'm actually HAPPY about eBay's new fees. yah!! more money for ebooks sellers!

How To Save on eBay Fees

It’s so expensive to list things on eBay these days isn’t it! There is listing fees, promotion fees, final value fees and if you use PayPal they want a cut too!

No wonder eBay sellers are struggling to make a profit these days.

Well never fear, I’ll let you know a few of the secrets over the next few newsletters that I use to cut down of the fees that I pay and how you can do the same.

Biggest Saving Secret #1
Have you thought about listing your items in multiples?

Called Dutch Auctions, it's where you can list more than one of the same auction (for the same price). It's especially useful for digital products since you don't have a limit on how many you can sell.

All you need to do is instead of listing the quantity available as 1, you add in however many you want, 10, 100, it is up to you. The beauty of this is that you are only charged the single listing fee by eBay.

Therefore if you are only selling one ebook and the fees wipe out all your profits, then consider listing more than 1 at a time in a dutch auction. That way you profits would be:

Sell zero – out of pocket!
Sell 1 – Fees usually equal profits so this is break even
Sell 2 or more – PROFIT BABY!!

Now you probably won't go and sell all 100 if you only list for a week, often it's more like 3 or 4. But that means that you save listing fees on the extra ebooks that you sell from that one auction.

Let's pretend you list an auction and set your price at $1.97. You say that you have 10 available. If you sell 3 from each listing then you should make a profit of about $4 once the listing fees are taken out).

If you listed that auction once a day for a week. That's around $28.00 pure profit.

Now what happens if you had 10 different ebooks all doing the same. 10 x $28 = $280 profit per week.

And if you had more ebooks … well you can see where I am going here.

Of course the trick is to find which ebooks will sell well and which won’t, but I'll leave those tips until next time ...

Using Turbo Lister to sell Digital Items

Turbo Lister is eBay’s listing tool program. If you are listing a lot of auctions this little program is going to save you a lot of time!

If you haven’t already got it, you can get it here from eBay (it’s FREE)

Once you’ve got a listing set up in turbo lister you can easily relist it as many times as you like! You don’t even have to be online to use turbo lister as it’s installed onto your own computer so you can work on your listings and then when you are ready upload them all to eBay.

It’ll ask for you eBay username and password when you first log in (don’t worry it’s safe – it’s just so that it can upload your auctions for you).

Once you are in, click the ‘NEW’ button then choose ‘Create New Item’ to create your first listing.

From here it’s pretty easy; you enter title, description, category, whether you are selling in Auction format or Buy It Now etc. I recommend using a Fixed Price for digital items so that you can get immediate payments via PayPal and your customer will get the link to download the file automatically. You don’t even have to be at your computer, eBay will give the link to your customer automatically.

If you are listing digital items, then once you choose your category (which should be Everything Else > Information Products > …) an option will show up underneath the category section called Digital Item. Click the ‘Edit’ button and tick the boxes for ‘List as a digital file or information’ and ‘I am legally authorized to sell this digital item’.

This will change the delivery option box to Digital Item Delivery. So then click the drop down box to ‘Provide Web Address for Download’. Then you can put in the web address of where your customer can download their item and any extra delivery instructions.

The last thing that you need to do is make sure that the ‘Immediate payments required’ box is ticked in Payment Methods so that your customer will get the link to download the file as soon as they pay.

Enter your PayPal information and you are done!

Why sell digital products?

If you have been selling items around the house, then you’ll know the effort involved in packaging them, going to the post office and sending them to your customers.

Forget all that effort!

Selling digital products eliminates the needs for visits to the post office, or having physical stock cluttering up your home.

Plus you can resell the item over and over again as many times as you like.

Let’s see how this works in theory.

If you have a digital product that sells for $1.97.

If you sell it once, you’ll make $1.97 profit (less your listing and selling fees).
Sell it 10 times, and you’ll make $19.70 profit (less fees)
Sell it 100 times, and you’ll make $197.00 profit (less fees)

The potential to earn $197.00 for an item that cost you $1.97 is very real. Now imagine if you had 20 or 30 different items for sale. You can make 20 x $197.00 which equals nearly $4,000 !! Of course you will be paying a lot back to ebay for fees, but most of that will be profit. That’s why selling digital products is so easy!

I want this year to be successful for both me and my subscribers.

January is a great time to make plans and goals for the rest of the year and over the coming weeks and months I'll be providing tips and advice on what has worked for me, and how you too can make 2008 a profitable year online.

As you know, I'm a bit of a cheapskate when it comes to buying ebooks and products, so if I recommend a product, you know it's got to be good (at least good enough to make your money back, but hopefully much much better). So any product review you see on this blog will either be of products I personally use, or those that I think are pretty fantastico.

eBay's Selling Manager Pro

As you probably know, eBay has various selling tools to help sellers manage their listings and inventory.

While I had been using Selling Manager for some time, it was only last week that I decided to upgrade to Selling Manager Pro.

I don't know why I didn't do it earlier!! (Probably because it costs $10 per month). Anyway I've only just started putting some of my ebooks back up on eBay since coming back from holidays, and last night one of my ebooks was sold. eBay relisted it for me, left feedback and I didn't have to do anything! Oh boy am I loving this! Think of all the time it will save.

If you are listing a lot of items (especially ebooks) this is such a time saver, I would definately recommend upgrading.

Mailing Lists Unleashed Review

Mailing Lists Unleashed is the latest eBook by the new Internet Marketing guy on the block - Lee McIntyre.

It promises to turbo charge your email income by following his secret steps on how it went from earning a few dollars a day to over seven thousand per month. A lot of hype to be sure, but I’m not really interested in what it could do for him, being the selfish girl that I am, I want to know if it will work with me. Can I really build a massive subscriber list following his techniques?

So full of optimism I gladly hand over my credit card on launch day. After all, I hadn’t been doing that well on my own. In fact prior to buying his eBook I managed to only gain two subscribers on my own.

Impressive huh! Yep I was able to sign up on two subscribers to my newsletter before I got Mailing Lists Unleashed. That’s how bad I am at converting visitors, so I really needed some help.

On the first day I diligently went and made some of the changes that Lee recommends. His ideas are a little different that most that I’ve heard. He actually says that you need to build trust with your subscribers and not just treat them like a list of buyers. Opposite advice to what I’d heard previous to that.

Within a week my subscribers had increased by a massive 250%. I had sent out my first newsletter using the ideas within the eBook on what to write to your subscribers. Obviously it went well since no-one unsubscribed. In fact it started to create a bit of a snowball effect.

In the second week my list has grown by over 1000%. Ok all you math’s whizzes, that’s an increase from two to twenty-five subscribers. So I’m still not breaking any records here, but you have to understand that I’m an absolute newbie with minimal traffic and not much time to spend on my online activities. So imagine what the eBook could do in the hands of someone who actually had visitors to their website - they have the potential to explode their mailing list numbers.

So it really is working for me, but will it work for you? I think even an established marketer will get something out of this eBook. Whether it’s how to create a sizzling sales page to tweaking your post opt-in thank-you pages, or even what to write in your newsletter the advice contained is valuable.

How to set-up an eBay store

If you haven’t already set up a store through eBay, then it’s time to consider doing so. The benefits of having a store are tremendous and will far out way the costs of setting one up!

First and foremost, having a store makes you look more professional. When I opened my eBay store at http://stores.ebay.com/Traceys-eBooks-and-more my sales nearly tripled that month.

Before that I was always hesitant, because of the costs involved.

Costs are:
$15.95 per month for a Basic Store
$49.95 per month for a Premium Store, and
$299.95 per month for an Anchor Store

(Obviously the Anchor Store will get much more promotion and features than a basic store.)

When I was starting out I thought that paying $15.95 per month was a bit too much as I was still a beginner and delayed getting a store for months. But once I set my store up, I was able to send out promotional emails, promote items, and make more sales, it soon became a wise decision.

If you are just starting out, just get the Basic Store to start with. It will have all the features you need and pretty soon you should be making more than enough profit to cover the monthly fee.

The second main benefit is that you have a web address that you can send potential customers too. Having an address like http://stores.ebay.com/Traceys-eBooks-and-more looks much more professional than trying to send someone to your listings at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=270183938080&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=017 (not to mention that it will probably get messed up in some email browsers!).

The third main benefit of having an eBay store is that you can list things very cheaply. Listing an item in your store can be as little as 10 cents for 30 days using gallery pictures, subtitles and other promotional features. This means that you’ll save a bundle on listing fees and be able to promote particular items really inexpensively.

The last main benefit (and the best benefit in my opinion) is that you can start an email marketing campaign to your customers.

Customers will get the option to subscribe to your ebay newsletter when they buy one of your items. This gives tremendous opportunity to resell to your existing customers and maximize your sales revenue.

You are able to set up how often the newsletter’s will get sent out, what items to promote, and how they will look. When you are starting out, this ability to market to your customers is well worth the cost of a store!

Every time I send out a newsletter, my sales triple for the next few days. And I’m promoting items in my store that only cost me less than 10 cents to list, so not only am I making more sales, my fees are less!
